Hello Everyone! Let’s dive in:
Events

Friday, January 5th, 6:30pm Homesick: Why Housing is Unaffordable and How We Can Change It Reading and signing with Brendan O'Brien and Blythe Roberson
An especially critical book for NYC! Join us on January 5th, 6:30pm for a reading and signing with Brendan O'Brien, in conversation with Blythe Roberson, author of How to Date Men When You Hate Men and America the Beautiful.
Bring your 4 roommates and join us for a discussion on how a basic right like shelter has become an unaffordable luxury for so many of us, and what we can do about it.
Thursday, January 11, 7 - 9pm Jane and Justice: Panel on Abortion & Birth Justice
Join Repair the World NY on Thursday, January 11th at 7 PM for an evening of conversation on birth and abortion justice with Abby Pariser, a longtime activist and former member of Jane, the clandestine Chicago abortion service that provided abortion access before Roe v Wade. We’ll discuss the fight for individual autonomy, equality, and how disparities continue to exist within access to reproductive healthcare.
January 13, 5-7pm Touching the Art with Mattilda B. Sycamore
Mattilda Bernstein Sycamore will be in conversation with Anastacia Renee and signing copies of her new book, Touching the Art . Touching the Art is a daringly observant memoir about intergenerational trauma, fine art, and compartmentalization from a returning Soft Skull author and Lambda Literary Award winner.
We are very excited to have Mattilda Bernstein Sycamore back at Bluestockings, Sycamore launched her first book at our old location over 20 years ago! A mixture of memoir, biography, criticism, and social history, Touching the Art is queer icon and activist Mattilda Bernstein Sycamore’s interrogation of the possibilities of artistic striving, the limits of the middle-class mindset, the legacy of familial abandonment, and what art can and cannot do.
